Installation Profile:
Project: American University School of International Service
Date Completed: September 2010
Project Value: $321K
Description:
The School of International Service at American University is the largest school in the United States that focuses on International relations and politics. Completed in 2010 this 70,000 square foot building contains classrooms, event rooms and a library annex. The audio visual element is in some aspects very simple yet sophisticated.
There are six classrooms that have ceiling mounted LCD projectors and in-wall control stations complete with a mounted DVD/VHS unit. The Founders Room is an event space that includes multiple projectors, cameras and a multi-media lectern that houses a control panel for overall operation. This event space ties together with an Executive classroom on another level that acts as an overflow room or can also be the main event room using the Founders Room as the overflow space. Video conferencing is available in both the Founders Room and the Graduate Resource Center (GRC) which is the library annex. The GRC contains various flat panels as well as a “SMART” classroom that holds multiple projectors, cameras and touch panel controls. The system also has the ability to record the events on a number of different video formats.
